Introduction

Riordan Manufacturing is looking for a new system that can combine their Human Resources information connected to data. At the moment the data is spread through various departments of the company giving employee’s limited viewing access. In the new central location for the system it will allow for a single system and access that will be similar as before. Exercising the new system will take some time as well as a strenuous process of installation because the system will need to run a series of test before actual implementation. According to Lemos this is imperative because “Companies should not try to quickly consolidate data center operations (Lemos, 2008).

Architecture and Process Design

Through review and analysis it has been determined the current HR system of Riordan Manufacturing is dated and lacks certain specifications to carry out important actions of the HR department. In review of the current system it was discovered there is no hardware system to collect the information. Managers including upper management, supervisors, and clerks enter information into the system manually in all locations. One recommendation is for Riordan upgrade their Information System to a more centralized system that will limit the amount of users who have read and write access to the new system. To determine the requirements of the new system all stakeholders involved should understand the requirements and also consider using a Joint Application Design (JAD). According to John Wiley & Sons “Joint Application Development is a process that accelerates the design of information technology solutions. JAD uses customer involvement and group dynamics to accurately depict the user’s view of the business need and to jointly develop a solution” (John Wiley & Sons, 1995).
