Team Charter Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Clause
A team charter is a written agreement that states the rules, regulations, expectations, and stipulations that they will abide by during the course. An Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) will be useful to the team charter to resolve any problems and disagreements. This clause will explain the steps a learning team will take when a dispute arises.
A learning team can experience various conflicts. Some examples are scheduling meeting times, the division of work assignments, the level of contribution from individual team members, a failure to complete assignment or meet the teams goals and deadline. Working in teams can be easy, but it also can be difficult. Clearly stating the rules and regulations will provide skillful performance by the team and there is no need for the leader to become involved. If for some reason a dispute that involves a members’ disregard for rules as documented in the team charter the ADR process will commence immediately. An ADR is a method or resolving disputes other than litigation (Cheeseman, 2010).
Negotiation
Cheeseman (2010) stated “Negotiation is a procedure in which the parties to a dispute engage in talks to try to reach a voluntary settlement of their dispute” (p. 44). All team members will hold negotiations. Team members will discuss the issue, identify the problem, come up with proposed solutions, and attempt to reach a decision. This type of practice is efficient and will save team member’s time, which will allow the members to refocus on the learner team assignment.
Mediation
