An example of an issue in the history of sports relating to sportsmanship would be illegal hits in football team such as helmet to helmet contact or late hits. Many view this style of hitting as an attempt to intentionally injure that player for the benefit of the game. In 1993 Chuck Cecil was known for his aggressive style of tackling. Many times than not he would lead with his helmet when tackling which would result in either hurting himself, his opponent, or both. Currently this issue has resurfaced again and officials have been stiffening the rules on this behavior in an effort to protect players. Some rulings on this act can become questionable. Some fans believe this will make players too passive on the field resulting in an advantage for the offense.

The stakeholders in situation would be the players, officials, teammates, and coaches. This can potentially send the wrong message to young players in the game. They may start to believe the way to win games is to tackle this way, hurting your opponent is the way to win games. The conflict of values and virtues related to this conduct would be integrity, morality, and honor. Society enjoys to watching some form of full contact or violence, but they also want to see it performed honorably.

I believe we can coach and prepare a plan that will improve an aspect of our character. We would need to just come up with a specific plan and practice fundamentals so that you are able to follow through. I also believe we can model athletic training methods to apply to personal improvement. In many ways I feel we already do. Whether we are seeking to be better off financially we may seek a financial advisor to help coach us on how to practice better money management or if we are seeking to become a better person in our relationships we may seek out a counselor that will train us to behave in a healthier manor.
