What past experience prepared or motivated you to pursue this degree? Describe how you would expect to change over the course of the program. What personal and professional values and skills do you hope to acquire beyond the academic content? How will you obtaining the degree help you achieve your career goals?

I would never forget four years ago when I was cornered into making a decision that was going to alter my life. Somehow there was a voice deep down hovering in my heart. “I want to study abroad”. Those words came out of my mouth without any hesitation. My voice tone was so surprisingly firm and calm that the idea seemed to be spoken out from my soul. But the truth is I had no idea where this decision could lead my life.

Although the journey came from a bold idea, it truly altered the way I perceived the world and assisted me to establish my own values. More importantly, I realized that I am looking for an industry that will increase my value as I get more experienced in such field. That thought motivates me to pursue a career in public accounting. There are a lot of options in front of me once I achieve my Bachelor degree in Accountancy. The major issue is whether I choose to return back to Shanghai and continue living in the familiar, comfortable surrounding or choose to stay in the United States and add value to my current bachelor degree to create more value and opportunities for my career. Beyond a doubt, I chose the latter.

After conducting numerous online research, the M.Acc program in the Fox School of Business seems a perfect fit for me. Unlike most of the other institutions, CPA review courses are built into this program to assist students in passing all four parts of the exam before going into the job hunt. Therefore the advantage of that is while I am preparing for FAR, AUD, REG and BEC, I will be simultaneously able to graduate with a Master degree.
