Increasing Homeless Rates

Have you noticed the recent increase of homeless individuals as of late? Would you stop and offer aid to any of them? Is this increasing trend preventable? Maybe you have noticed them as you drive by and come to a halt at a red light. Without warning, they appear at intersections holding signs requesting assistance. For example, will work for food, down on my luck and please help. Although the homeless rate rapidly increases there are measures that can be taken to prevent these circumstances. Educating those at a higher risk on managing their fiancés, government assistance programs, and community-funded programs can assist in lowering the homeless rate.

Educating those at a higher risk would substantially lower the homeless rate. A large majority of individuals that have become homeless are a direct result of poor money management and low income. The curriculum would range from saving, investing, how to live in one's means, and being able to distinguish a want from a need. Based on the data from the NAEH (National Alliance to End Homelessness) once can ascertain that about 633,782 people experience being homeless during their lifetime. The most shocking is that about 62,000 of the individuals are veterans. Service members, low-income families, and other individuals at risk would be among the many individuals to undergo this process to prevent them from joining the increasing numbers.

Government assistance programs would play an important role in this process as well. In some instances, an individual or family may be to far gone to simply educate on money management. A family may come from poverty and have little to any income or decent jobs but many mouths to feed and family members to shelter. These programs would aid in assisting these individuals in staying afloat until there able to stand up on their own in a manner of speaking.
