Tourism is defined as a “set of activities engaged in by persons temporarily away from their usual environment, for a period of not more than one year, and for a broad range of leisure, business, religious, health, and personal reasons, excluding the pursuit of remuneration from within the place visited or long-term change of residence” (Smith, 2004). Tourism Industry in Malaysia is one of the Southeast Asian countries, on a peninsula of the Asian continent, to a certain extent; it can be recognized as part of the Asian continent and the northern part of the island of Borneo (Essays UK, 2013). The tourism industry in Malaysia was until the 1990s focused on the mainstream tourist destinations such as Langkawi and Penang with its beaches and big resorts. The industry has been developing since the 1970s and in the 1980s the government made its first strategic policy on tourism (World Travel & Tourism Council, 2002). In 1999, Malaysia launched a worldwide marketing brand is called "Malaysia Truly Asia" and their campaign that is "Cuti-Cuti Malaysia", which is largely successful to position Malaysia as a major destination in the region, bringing more than 7.4 million tourists to Malaysia (Economic Planning Unit, 2001). In fact, travel trade professionals, who are the best critics on travel matters, were happy to embrace the slogan "Cuti-Cuti Malaysia" in their hotel, travel and tour packages.
