Abstract

Even though Sony’s firm is located in Japan and Microsoft’s firm is located in the United States they both deal with issues legally, ethically, and socially. While both firms develop video games for the Playstation and XBOX they must look at things like obesity and violence from these games.

Issues Microsoft and Sony Deal With Legally, Ethically, and Socially

Many firms all over the world deal with the same issues legally, ethically, and socially. Two in particular are Sony and Microsoft. Sony’s firm is located in Japan and Microsoft is right here in the United States. Problems both firms deal with are obesity and video games promoting violence.

Sony’s firm is located in Tokyo, Japan [ (Sony Corporation, n.d.) ]. Telecommunications Engineering Corporation incorporated them in 1946 (Sony Corporation, n.d.). The Playstation was one of Sony’s biggest inventions. The Sony Playstation was a gaming device that changed the way people played games. Sony introduced this new device in 1994 in Japan (Playstation, n.d.). Sony has many electronics but the Playstation is one of their biggest and best sellers to date. Ibuka Masaru and Morita Akio were the founders of Sony (Sony Corporation, n.d.).

Microsoft’s firm is located in Redmond, Washington in the United States (Microsoft, n.d.). The firm was established in 1975 (Microsoft, n.d.). The XBOX was Microsoft’s first gaming system they developed. The Microsoft XBOX was released in North America in 2001 and in Japan in 2002 (XBOX, n.d.). Microsoft also has many electronics and the XBOX is one of their biggest sellers to date. Paul Allen and Bill Gates were the founders of Microsoft [ (Microsoft, n.d.) ].
