Assessments

The Department of Modern Languages and English as a Second Language is dedicated to identifying how well students learn and to the continuous improvement of the instruments used to gather this data (Stiggins & Chappuis, 2012). Using effective assessments aids student learning by “framing” how they learn (Gibbs, 2006, pg. 23); thus our students are assessed regularly. The chart in figure 1 contains the complete list of all assessments available through our department. Additional information for each assessment is provided in the next section.
