Reflective Essay English for Academic Purposes

Our group has chosen Hong Kong Tramways as our product to be discussed. The aim of this presentation is we want to evoke people to remind the importance of Hong Kong Tramways to Hong Kong. The main reason why would we choose this topic is due to these days Hong Kong Tramways has become a hot topic since a consulting company proposed to cancel the tram route from Central to Admiralty in order to ease the traffic congestion however in return a lot of citizens and representatives from different organization stood up and oppose to this proposal. Through the presentation, we will talk about how Hong Kong Tramways influences different areas such as Economic, Cultural and Environment.

In economic, it acts as a tourist attraction since it is not commonly found in other Asia countries. It attracts different tourists to take tram in Hong Kong Island side rather than taking MTR. It has a knock-on effect that it boosts up the Hong Kong economy. Moreover, Hong Kong Tramways has a comparatively cheap fare than other transportation in Hong Kong, which motivates a lot of Hong Kong citizens to take the tramways.

In cultural, it acts as the icon of Hong Kong and a city landmark. It has a history of over 100 years. Also, in this fast pace running in Hong Kong, people are under a lot stress which they will choose to take tramways because it is slow in pace to reduce pressure.

In environmental issue, it is powered by electricity and it does not require air-conditioning which enormously reduces pollutions comparing with vehicles and aircrafts. Furthermore, the classic exterior is a state of art eco-friendly element.
