Mostly all laws in the US begin as bills, and before it can even become a law it must be approved by the U.S House of representatives, the Senate and the President. Laws tend to begin as ideas from a representative or a regular person. Next the bill is proposed, bills need sponsors to help support it when the bill has a sponsor and the representatives support it than it is ready to be introduced. A bill is introduced when it is placed on the clerk’s desk and representatives are the only ones that can introduce bills in the U.S house of representatives. The bill is given a number that begins with H.R.A, later the clerk reads the bill to all of the House of Representatives and the than it is sent to a standing committee. The committee than reviews and revises the bill before they vote on it. It is than sent back to the subcommittee and after it is reviewed there than they send it back to the committee for approval. If it is approved than the bill is sent to the U.S House of Representatives. Representatives discuss the bill and explain why they either agree or disagree on it. The bill is later voted on and if they all vote yes than the bill is passed in the House of representatives the bill gets checked and than delivered to the U.S Senate. The bill is discussed in the Senate committee and than it goes to the Senate floor to be voted on. If the bill is passed in the U.S Senate than it is ready to go to the President. When the President gets the bill he has three choices, he can sign and pass the bill, he can refuse to sign or veto the bill and if the House of representatives and senate still believe that the bill should become a law and if two thirds of the representatives and senators support the bill than the Presidents veto is overridden and the bill becomes a law. The third choice is the President can do nothing at all it becomes a pocket veto meaning that the bill has 10 days and after 10 days if congress is in session it becomes a law.
