* Know how union density may mean nothing if unions are weak

* Know how non-union workers may be represented (councils, codetermination)

* Know all definitions pertaining to labor unions, as well as the basics of the union types and unionization history (only a general understanding is sufficient for the exam).

Chapter 8: International Workforce Planning and Staffing

* Know pros and cons of hiring locals vs. sending expatriates from the perspectives of “their” and “your” governments, your organization, your competition, and your and “other” employees

* Have a basic understanding of the role of culture in hiring and management decisions

* Know the major factors that may affect your hiring decisions and labor availability (labor force size, unemployment, education, and so on).
