America is often known for all the hardships it has been through, the people who have fought for it, and the way it was created. It was not just land that was deemed America, yet it was given its name through many different battles. Every event that leads up to the present of America was very important; some events were well known, while others were not. America began with an evolutionary process of dealing with society and creating a government everyone could follow. Every president from Washington to Jackson ran office based on the idea of either “Jeffersonian Democracy” or “Hamiltonian Federalism”. One early advancement in America occurred in 1660, which Seagull referred to as “creating Anglo-America”. In the beginning of this creation, in 1675, the Indian alliance launched attacks on farms and settlements that were peaking on Indian lands in southern New England. This was known as King Phillips War, where the Wampanoag leader Metacom attacked half of New England’s 90 towns. Although the Indians were strong, a counter attack occurred in 1676 which broke all of the Indian’s power.

After this incident, England wanted to expand their empire. They based their empire off of a term called mercantilism, which means the colony exists to provide the mother country with raw materials and the country produces these products to sell back. England was trying to promote national power. England ruled under a theory called theocracy, meaning the government was run by religion. The English gained an alliance with the Five Nations, aka the Covenant Chain, but the turn of the century cause the Five Nations to adopt to a policy of neutrality. Land was expanded upon past the 13 colonies and found during this time, including the founding of Carolina.
