Care Ethics and the Issue of Cloning

Care ethics theory is sometimes known as the ethics of care approach. According to this theory, there exist a moral significance in the fundamental features of dependencies and relationships in life. This theory is built on the need to maintain relationships by promoting and contextualizing the welfare of care receivers and caregivers a social-relations network. By virtue, the theory is built on the need to preserve the world and meet the needs of not only ourselves, but others. In essence, there exists a motivation to care for those who are vulnerable and dependent and in most cases, these motives are inspired by the memories of being cared for. Human cloning is one of the hotly debated topics which always attract a sense of the Care Ethics theory. It refers to the generation or creation of a genetically identical copy of a person.

In other words, it regarded as the reproduction of human tissues and cells to come up with a complete replica of another person. The issue of human cloning has so far raised several controversies. There are major ethical concerns that have been questioned about human cloning. To clearly understand the ethical responsibilities to clones, it is vital to as oneself: If you had a clone of yourself, would you have the same responsibilities to him or her as the ones you have to yourself as you are now, and why or why not? Therefore, this argumentative essay uses the Care Ethics theory to explain the ethical responsibilities that one should have to a clone of themselves.

If I had a clone of myself, I would have the same responsibilities to him/her as the ones I have for myself.
