Should New Zealand Change the Flag?

SHOULD NZ CHANGE ITS FLAG?

Para 1Introduction | This subject is discussed every 6th February , which is the National day " Waitangi Day", on New Zealand day when lots of flags are flown. The characteristic of New Zealand flag is the Union Jack with four stars because in previous years New Zealand belonged to Britain's empire and those four stars represent to the Southern Cross. Nowadays New Zealand has huge changed compared to the past because there is not only English live here but also some new New Zealander who immigrate from different countries such as Chinese ,Korean and Indian. Obviously New Zealand now has become a multi-cultural country. Therefore I think New Zealand flag should be changed because we are not able to emphasize our national identity to the global world. The reason why is our flag too similar to see the difference between ours and Australia's. The black flag with a silver fern is slowly becoming a substitute for the national flag because whenever we support our sports at the Olympics or any international sports competitions we usually wave a black flag so now foreign people recognize that represent to New Zealand when they see it. New Zealand is not like before because now we do not really rely on England a lot and we have our own economy and government. |

Para 2 Change the Flag | There have been suggestions that the New Zealand flag should be changed. Firstly the current flag does not show any Maori elements because they were the first ones who land in New Zealand. Secondly our flag is too much like the Australian one because both flags have the Union Jack on top left, the only difference is the number of stars. We have four red stars and Australian has six white stars. Both of them are easy for people to get confused with and overseas people may not be able to identify them correctly.
