Pharmacy Project

Briefing Note – March 2010

The following is an update of the progress of the Pharmacy Project as at March 2010. The key message from this briefing is that iPharmacy has now been successfully implemented at eleven sites statewide and that PBS online functionality has now been launched with the project remaining on track to complete the implementation at all sites by September 2010.

Update

The Pharmacy application has now been successfully implemented at eleven sites with Albany and King Edward Memorial Hospitals joining the existing iPharmacy sites. The project is also pleased to announce that in early March the first of the staged updates to the application at all iPM sites were also successfully introduced. The version update included: PBS Online functionality that automatically checks if there is a PBS benefit applicable with prescription and automatically reports on this for easy claiming of the benefit; Implementation of the Medical Officer interface between TOPAS and i.Pharmacy; and Implementation of the full suite of reports within i.Pharmacy. The i.Pharmacy application will provide users access to a single pharmacy system, available across multiple tertiary, secondary and regional sites around the state, with all sites using live interlinked data.

Additional enhancements will be rolled out as part of project in parallel to the implementation. The additional enhancements, expected to become available in early 2010 include:

Rollout Schedule

By September 2010, the rollout of the application will be completed across all WA Health hospitals. A detailed implementation plan is outlined on the following page.
