Chanukah and Christmas with his family. However, as a doctor, some of those Christmases are spent at 

work. Hershel the Jewish Reindeer is based on Geller's personal story of sacrificing a night off from work so 

that others may celebrate their holiday traditions. 

"As a doctor, I often worked Christmas so that my Christian colleagues could spend it with their families," 

said Geller. "My kids started asking why, so I naturally started making up stories to explain and they became 

a tradition. Herschel is one of them."

In this beautifully illustrated story, the traditional eight flying reindeer are joined by a multidenominational 

group with a variety of traditions represented by characters such as gnomes, elves and the tooth fairy. No
