The Nails

These nails can’t hold me!

At one time in London, there was a Christian restaurant owner named Sandy Mettler, who was a close friend of Albert Schweitzer her secretary. Mettler would never allow a Christian worker to pay for a meal in her restaurant. One day she opened her cash register and her Secretary was astonished to see among the bills and coins a six-inch nail. What was it doing there? Mettler explained, "I keep this nail with my money to remind me of the price that Christ paid for my salvation and of what I owe Him in return." You know, that's a blessing.

I think sometimes we need to be reminded of the sacrifice, do you agree?

What is a nail?

1. A slim, pointed piece of metal hammered into material as a fastener.

2. An expression that shows security

3. To put something in a position where it is trapped and stable

4. To stabilize. To fasten, join, or attach .To keep fixed, motionless, or intent.

ISAIAH: 22:25

IN THAT DAY, SAITH THE LORD OF HOSTS, SHALL THE NAiL THAT IS FASTENED IN THE SURE PLACE BE REMOVED, AND BE CUT DOWN, AND FAFLL; AND THE BURDEN THAT WAS UPON IT SHALL BE CUT OFF: FOR THE LORD HATH SPOKEN IT.

IN LIFE WE EXPERIENCE A LOT OF HANG-UPS. NAILS ARE DRIVEN IN US DAY BY DAY TO HENDER US FROM MOVING FORWARD. SOME ARE PUT IN OUR HANDS SO WE CAN USE THEM TO PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME, SOME ARE PUT IN OUR FEET SO WE CAN DANCE LIKE DAVID DANCED. SOME NAILS ARE PUT IN OUR HEARTS FROM FAMILY, FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES; PEOPLE WHO ARE CLOSEST TO US, PEOPLE WE HAVE GREW UP WITH, WENT TO CHURCH WITH, STRUGGLED WITH AND THESE SCARS REMAIN FOR A LONG TIME. SOME NAILS HAVE CLOSED OUR MOUTHS SHUT AND WE CANT SPEAK THE THINGS THAT GOD HAVE FOR US, WE CAN’T STAND UP FOR JESUS FOR WHO HE IS, WHAT HE HAS DONE, AND WHAT HE IS ABOUT TO DO.
