Critical Thinking Application

Critical thinking is a vital exercise for acquiring and interpreting information to help endorse the decision making process. Performing this type of thinking allows individuals to understand problematic concepts by identifying potential issues, and defining a pathway that will best suited for the situation. The intent of this study is to define critical thinking while describing the importance and benefits this has during the decision making process and applying it to work-related decisions.

Critical thinking can be applied to everyday life, and in any context so it is vital that individuals practice, and become discipline on thinking critically. This will add more substance than ordinary thinking by forcing an individual to analyze, assess, and improve on current events (Paul & Elder, 2006). Disciplining to become a critical thinker will allow individuals to gain power, open new doors, see new opportunities, minimize mistakes, and maximize potential understandings.

As defined critical thinking is the mental process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to reach an answer or conclusion (Paul & Elder, 2006). It is vital that an organization conducts in critical thinking when making a decision to ensure that each view is considered and the correct decision is made. Without this process certain situations and solutions could be over looked very easily. To become an effective thinker one has to remain calm, think with a clear head, separate facts from opinions, and make decisions without personal biases. Critical thinking produces many positive and useful benefits for example, critical thinking can help make better decisions based on facts and reputable sources, it can enhance ones knowledge about a situation and formulate a path forward based on findings, it can see a situation from a different perspective, and it can also create new ideas based on information...
