SENSE PERCEPTION

1. Background:

Cricket is a very popular sport world over. With the introduction of the Indian Premier League it has managed to get the attention of people from all age groups. The sport is also played by a large number of students from our school however there is no inter-house cricket tournament yet. It requires a large number of participants and so more number of students get to take part in it.

2. Proposed Date:

19th and 26th February, 2010 (Both Saturdays).

3. Event duration:

Three hours per match. 4 matches to be played over two successive Saturdays.

4. Proposed age groups:

Students from grade 8 to the IB Year 12

5. Proposed venue:

MIG Cricket Ground

6. Requirements:

• Personnel:

1. Two umpires (mostly from the sports department)

2. One Scorer (member of the core or a member of the sports department)

• Material:

1. Equipment.(including bats, an appropriate number rubber balls, stumps, and any other material suggested by the sports department)

2. Score Books

3. NOTE: the balls used are (hardened) tennis/rubber balls which do not require any special equipment like pads, gloves, thigh guards, etc.

7. Number of Participants:

Each House will have a team of 11 members that will play the match and have the option to have a maximum of 4 substitutes if they deem it necessary. There has to be a minimum of one member from each of the grades in the starting eleven. A failure to comply with this will result in an automatic disqualification of for that house. (all members of the team will be males)

Therefore: the playing eleven must consist of - 5 players from each of the grades and the house if free to decide the composition of the remaining 6 players

8. Format:

a. The tournament will consist of 4 matches. The first round of matches will be played by houses drawn against each other as a result of drawing chits. The houses that emerge victorious in the first round...
