The fight or flight response has to do with the body’s stress reactor to a situation. It increases the heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and serum cholesterol. These activities are coordinated by the medulla oblongata. The fight or flight also makes the body either run or fight or do something to make the body physically react to a circumstance or situation. That also has to do with the cerebellum. The heart beat, respirations, and so forth also changes by the way a person feels. If a person is excited, scared, or shocked then those things increase. If down, sad, and depressed it decreases and that has to do with the diencephalon. Most of these actions especially the fight or flight response triggers the autonomic nervous system and the endocrine system because they are stressors that goes through the hypothalamus and thalamus. The autonomic nervous system controls such body processes as hormone balance, temperature, and width of blood vessels. The endocrine system is comprised of hormones that regulate physiological functions. The CRF instructs the pituitary gland at the base of the brain to secrete adrenocorticotrophic hormone which activates the adrenal cortex to secrete corticoid hormones. So basically because the fight or flight response is the body’s stress reaction. It is a stressor that instructs the cerebral cortex and the sub cortex and they include the cerebellum and the medulla oblongata, pons, and the diencephalon. Those are made up of the thalamus and hypothalamus. All of those things make up the limbic system which controls all of those and really makes up the emotions and plays a big role in how the body and mind responds to stress. Then all that stuff relates to the reticular activating system, which is a line of nerves that connects the mind and body.
