My thoughts on Poetry Amy McCabe 9-6

Compared to other types of writings, poetry is my favorite. Poetry can be exressed in many was including readings and songs. Everyone has enjoyed a good poem at one time in their life. Many school books are made in rhymes also known as poems, to make it intersting for the children also making it easier to remember. Contrary to peoples believes poetry does not need to ryhme but doe make it very pleasent.

I personally enjoy poetry because it is a way to express your own personal thoughts. It is a great way to share how you are feeling at the time, or reminising an event that has passed. I enjoy poetry that flows together, that is written to rhyme and 'rolls together like a dance.' For those who have trouble expressing how they are feeling it is a great way to put it into words.

One poet that is great at his expression is Dr.Suess, he is an amazing poet that was able to use his skills to teach children words in a fun way. He was able to uses the same words over and over again in one poem teaching the child. Personally my mother read many Dr. Suess books that I enjoyed a lot. She herself enjoed the same books when she was young. Dr. Suess has affected most people around the world. He is a very well know poet and writer of famous childerens books.

Shel Silverstein is another well know poet that is also one of my favorites. Where the side walk ends is a very well known book. This book i have read many times, and it still never gets old. This book is filled with funny and entertaining off the wall poems, showing that a poem can be about anything and yet still be interesting.

I think that is the best thing about poetry, and how i think it is the best type of writtings. For you can create an amazing poem about anything, and it still can touch peoples hearts, or could mean something more than what it is, even cause a little laugh here and there. That is my thoughts on poetry, and why I enoy it so much.
