When you are running a large company like PepsiCo it takes people of all walks of life. You would like employees committed to work and people who will have a strong desire to take this company to the next level from where it is now. PepsiCo is a company that is very committed in hiring and retaining the best talent to fill positions in the corporation. PepsiCo was also one of the first companies that have been recognized as one of the top places for women and minorities to work.

They were one of the first companies to begin hiring minorities in professional positions as far back as the 1940’s. PepsiCo believes in long term results from real accomplishments and performances, and the respect to individuals, different cultures, ethnicity and color. They are also very committed to equal opportunity for all of their employees in providing a workplace free of all types of discrimination.

PepsiCo had some internal factors that it dealt with. In the beginning, the combination of two product lines of snacks and soft drinks. Later, the company added a moving company, North American Van Lines, another soft drink, Mountain Dew, and the first Russian Vodka, Stolichnaya distributer. Even though this was an enormous undertaking in 1984 PepsiCo made the decision to restructure and reorganize the organization to market soft drinks, snack foods, and restaurants. According to the PepsiCo Company website the sales at that time were $7.5 billion with 137,000 employees in every corner of the world. Today PepsiCo has tremendous growth not only in sales but also in brands such as Frito Lay, Tropicana, Quaker Oats, Doritos, Aquafina, and Lipton Ice Tea.

PepsiCo has had an external factor related to the leadership of this company. An example would be that this company was the first to use light weight recyclable plastic to package their product.
