The Cold War

The Cold War was historically the standoff of between Communist countries that were ran by the Soviet Union and the democratic nations that were managed by the United States. This area was considered to be wild because it covered and used whatever it took to get their point across such as propaganda, economic war, political bargaining and the irregular military disagreements. Battles were taken place in many areas many in neutral states, newly independent nations in Africa, Asia and even in outer space (Chung, 2011).

In all honesty, historians has not come to an agreement that can find the exact time as to which the Cold War started. However the political conditions were not good. The U.S. access to the Western Hemisphere was not at all in danger during the early Cold War era, but conditions in other areas of the world were not anywhere near as favorable. After World War II, the weakening of Europe, political power was largely shared between the Soviet Union and the United States. The political situation began to weaken as the country tried to dominate the other.

Explain the specific threats to American citizens

The Cold War threats had strong destructive outcomes on American citizen’s life then, and still to this present day. The United States, in the 1950’s became a fearful place to live. People were swayed into believing that a Communist plot to overthrow the government was imminent and they say conspiracies in every aspect of society. This was the goal of the communist to put fear in the American citizen’s mind. The Cold War and the nuclear threats were common threats coalesced citizens in the United States (Farber, 1994). While recognizing the Soviet Union as “enemy” the United States citizens pursued to rebuff the principles that were most frequently endorsed to Soviet Communism.
