Subject: The Ideal Winner of the Ethics in Business Award

As you requested I have come up with my recommendation on the most deserving individual to receive the Ethics in Business Award. My nomination is for Angel Gurria, the Secretary General for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Throughout Mr. Gurria’s personal life and career, he has demonstrated strong ethical values, working for fair, competitive business practices and helping communities and people around the world.

Who is Angel Gurria?

Angel Gurria was born in Mexico in 1950. Mr. Gurria has previously held two ministerial posts with the Mexican government and was recommended by President Vicente Fox to head the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. He has held this position since June 2006, and was recently resigned for another 5-year term. (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), 2011).

The aim of the OECD is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world (OECD, 2011). As head of the OECD Mr. Gurria has been able to use his authority, and influence to remain at the centre of economic debate and policy. This being the case, he has been able to battle for the rights of ordinary people around the world. As well as, maintaining high standards on corporate social responsibility.

Why Angel Gurria

There are many people who maintain high standards on ethics and social responsibility, but Mr. Gurria has continuously, maintained the highest degree of ethical behaviour and has the proven track record of involving others to follow his lead. The Ethics in Business Award is given to honor individuals that have demonstrated the importance of human values and ethics in life and in the business world (World Forum for Ethics in Business, 2011).
