Delphi Museum

This piece of art work is one of the better examples of classical Greece art. The Charioteer of Delphi expresses and represents the passage from Archaic to the Classical ideals. It is the balance between stylized geometric and idealized realism. The ability to restrain a person’s emotions during the most challenging times came to define the Classical era of Greek art and thought. The Charioteer whose name is Iniohos was part of a complex of statues that include his four horses and the chariot that he stood on. The Greeks took into account the great detail in this statue due to it representing emotions and transition.

Hellenistic Greece

The Chimera of Arezzo is a bronze statue. It was found in Arezzo Italy in 1553. There are several speculations as to the original origin of the art work. Some are saying it was discovered in 1554 but others are saying that it is much older than that. The tail was found broken when it was discovered outside the temple. Later in the 18th century it was welded back on. There are rumors of a curse on the chimera itself. Saying that if it is unearth that it brings unspeakable terrors to all who have unearthed it. To this day there are no terrors that have been unleashed.

Etruscan Civilization

The Pergamum Acropolis has a par with the alter of Zeus that has a horsehoe shape that was designed by Menecrates of Rhodes. It was constructed by EumenesII (197-159 BC). It is a memorial of the victory against the Galatians and the taking of the Acropolis of Athens. The dimensions are 36.4 x 34.2 m. It has four parts and the high relieves on it describes the war between the giants and the gods. It depicts the final victory by Zeus over Gaea and ends the matriarchal epoch and establishes a patriarchal government order and culture. The transition is due to a period where man...
