EFFECTS OF AGE ON TAPPING
Noah Roth
Abstract:
In this report I give step by step directions on how to do the experiment. I discuss my conclusion of the experiment. I also talk about my and show my results of the experiment. This experiment shows that age does have a small role in the number a taps someone can do.
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment was is to see if a difference in age affects the number of taps a person can do. I believe that a younger participant will have a lower number of taps than the older subject because the younger participant is in middle school and has ADHD and she has a harder time focusing on something.
METHOD:
Subjects (Participants):
My first participant is a nineteen year old female who works as a Personal Care Attendant, is left handed and has a learning disability. My second participant is a fourteen year old female who is in the eighth grade, has ADHD, is right handed and also has a learning disability.
Apparatus (Materials):
The apparatus I used for this experiment is the Tapping board and a stopwatch or any device that can show seconds. This apparatus is designed to measure a subject’s motor skills.
Procedure:
To start the experiment I had participant one sit down comfortably in front of the tapping board. I then handed participant one the stylus and reset the clock counter. I then asked participant one to begin tapping on the right square with her right hand for 15 seconds. I then recorded the number of taps from the clock counter after 15 seconds and then reset the counter. I then asked the subject to begin tapping on the left square with their left hand for 15 seconds. I then recorded the number of taps from the clock counter after 15 seconds I then reset the counter. I then asked participant one to begin tapping on the right square with her right hand for 15 seconds while humming. I then recorded the number of taps from the clock counter after 15 seconds and then reset the counter. I then...
