1. Taking account of the relevant theoretical and practical considerations, write a report of not more than 1,800 words to your tutor in which you draw on your investigations to critically appraise the implementation of your chosen organisation’s strategy related to the management of its people on one or more of the themes covered in Units 3–5 (e.g. performance management, human resource planning and utilisation, employment relations). (45 marks) Presentation Guidance Depending on your choice of HR theme to focus on in the second assignment (e.g. structure, performance, employment relations), you may find yourself studying Units 3 to 5 in a non-sequential manner. You can flick through the units quickly to find out what each one contains (the introductions at the start of each unit are good for doing this). Study the ones which are directly relevant to your focus in the second assignment first and then study the rest in the remaining time. As we expect you to produce assignments that are independent of each other, we would encourage you to provide a brief description of your chosen organisation in the introduction to each assignment. In the second assignment, this should be sufficiently deep to enable someone who has not read your first assignment to understand the organisation that you have chosen to study.
