Significance of Time

What defines time? Many may argue that the perception of time at times may be somewhat of a debate. If you ask a civilian with a job their input about time, he or she may say it is somewhat important depending on the circumstances for which time is used to entail. If you were to ask a civilian person without a job; his or her answer might be non-important for the simple reason being, what does that person really have to look forward to? These questions may seem to be Daunting to a soldier, seeing as how Time is the Alpha and Omega of our operations and even existence.

Timing in all of its essence in the Army; signifies discipline within the unit as well as the individual. Coming from basic training as well as AIT from Fort Jackson, 15 minutes prior is a must in any situation. Weather it be forming up for field training or to get to chow as soon as possible, time is of the essence. Even though something may not seem important to you now as far as time presumes, but in the end or down in the battle field, it could mean the difference between life and death.

In a war zone, Time is the most crucial factor between that Trigger man’s finger and his glimpse of Heaven. If that soldier is too slow in his weaponry skills of S.P.O.R.T.S, he or she will almost definably have problems in times of firing and combat. Also the proper timing of when/where to check certain aspects of your weapon and where to take breaks at. If you simply decide to take a break behind an alley way, and an IED happens to detonate when you sit down on a crate or something, you just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Not only does time seem to have control over your own actions as a soldier it can also affect the missions effectiveness in combat as well as on base in pt and other essential Army plots.
