Dunkin Donuts and Baskin-Robbins

Dunkin Donuts

Dunkin Donuts were founded after William Rosenburg started his business that provided lunch to the industry companies that were located in the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts. After this business began to success, Rosenburg invested $5,000.00 dollars and developed Open Kettle that only served coffee and donuts. In 1950 Open Kettle name was changed to Dunkin Donuts and the first shop were opened in Quincy, Massachusetts. Dunkin Donuts opened its first franchise five years later and by the year of 1979 there were 1000 shops. (Daszkowski, 2009)

Baskin-Robbins

This company was started by tow brother- in-laws that loved ice cream. Burton Baskin and Irvine Robbins had the desire to serve ice cream to customers with a variety of flavors that were made with the best ingredients. They both had the same dream to produce the best ice cream, but they started out in different shops. In 1945 Irv opened an ice cream shop in Glendale, California named Snowbird Ice Cream that featured 21 flavors of ice cream. A year later Burt opened his first shop that were located in Pasadena, CA. In 1948 they had six stores and eventually grew into Baskin Robbins in the year of 1953.

Baskin Robbins have expanded and because the ice cream empire in the United States with over 400 stores. By the 70’ the chain went international by opening stores in Korea, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Japan. Today more than 300 million of happy customers visit Baskin-Robbins in their neighborhood. This franchise is stilled based on the 100% to the shareholders as it was years ago nothing have changed, because this is a hand on hand small business, while providing high-quality ice cream to more than 150 million customers and innovative .
