Mt. Huashan

Mt. Huashan is located in the Shanxi province in China, about 70miles away east of Xi’an city. This mountain is known by Western Scared Mountain in China. It is a famous Taoism mountain in the China, even in the world, and has a long history religious significance. The highest peak is the South peak is 2160m. Even though it is not very high, it is hardly to reach. It is a really a dangerous mountain for climbing, so we give “The Number One Precipitous Mountain under Heaven” to this mountain. Ancient Chinese was use couple days to climb this mountain. Now, we have a easier way to climb. There is a Cable Car on the mountain. This Cable Car can only reach the lowest peak of this mountain, but it is much easier for tourists climbing this mountain.

Mt. Huashan is at 34°29′N 110°05′E, in the Yellow River Basin, south of the Wei River Basin, at the east end of Qinling mountain. It is a part of Qinglin Mountain Range which not only divided northern and southern of Shangxi Province, but also China. As the reason of it’s position, it is a suitable place to watch the sun rising in the morning. East peak is named facing sun peak is the best place for facing the sun rising.

Visiting this mountain is the extension of my cultural tourism. There are many Taoism temple on the mountain. It also has a long history from Tang Dynasty. What is more, the summits of this mountain has many stories of themselves. Such as the West peak is a traditional Chinese story about a son hack the mountain to rescue his mother who was pressed by mountain.

Climate in this mountain region is almost same as the climate in Xi’an. Only the temperature would become lower by altitude increase. So we should take longer shirt even coats in our backpack. We should also take a comfortable sport shoes for climbing such a steeper mountain.

I will take bus from Xi’an to Mt. Huashan. I start at 8 in the morning. After 3hours road trip, at 11 I arrive the foot of the Mt.Huashan. Then I take...
