I will argue that society see people with disabilities as slow and stupid. But this is not the case, people with disabilities can function in society the same as a person without a disability.

Society has often considered a person with a disability as an inconvenient or useless person. “Society associates disability with physiological, anatomical, or mental defects.”(Russell, n.d.) People with disabilities comprise at least 10% of the global population (International Foundation of Electoral System, n.d.). The assumption of societies feel that people are slow and stupid is very far from the truth. People with disabilities hold countless job positions, seven percent of the federal civilian workforce, work for the federal government (Federal Jobs Network, n.d.). Disabled people hold jobs from running mom and pops stores to management in top stores and popular restaurants.
