Industrialization in the late 19th century

Industrialization is the process where a society or country transforms itself from a primarily agricultural society into one based on the manufacturing of goods and services. Individual manual labor was frequently replaced by mechanized mass manufacture and craftsmen were replaced by assembly lines. Characteristics of industrialization include the use of technological innovation to solve problems of labors and economic growth. It is a part of a modernization process in which social change and economic growth are closely related with technological innovation, particularly with the development of large-scale energy and new heavy metal machinery productions. New machinery, new technological process, new manufacturing feats, and new form of factory organization fueled the development and efficiency of U.S Business (Jones, 385). The industrialization of 19th century was the creation of new inventions and technologies; it changed the social class and changed the ethnic dynamics of the United States.

Many businesses perfected the American system of manufacturing, which businesses can replace old interchangeable parts with new improved parts. This system was of great use because manufacturers were able to assemble products more cheaply and efficiently, to refurbish products effortlessly with new parts, and to redesign products swiftly (Jones, 385). New inventions and technologies were benefiting producers and consumers to a great extent. However, all benefits will come with consequences. The new inventions and technologies were hurting laborers significantly because the new inventions and technologies were doing all the work and production. In other words, innovative inventions and technologies will result in a considerably decrease in demand for hire hands. Few hire hands were enough to utilize the new inventions and technologies.
