CHAMPION

In the Atlantic coast there is a small town near the mountains of Maria, a small town with beautiful landscape and productive land. From there you can see the sea and many mountains. To get there it is very difficult because there are no roads or walkways.

There, there is a small school where children from the town study. There are two teachers for all the students and they stimulate sports to teenagers to avoid them to enter illegal groups. A basketball court was made with money they collected in the community; for the basketball team they organized.

They did not have shoes, uniforms, equipment neither a great coach, but the most important, is that they had love for their team. The team started training very hard and they won all the games they played with teams from the region. They were waiting for their challenge that was the National Basketball Championship. Everyone was very scared in front of their challenge.

The team was training with a lot of enthusiasm because they knew it was difficult for its limitations. So they started to do sweepstakes, they requested collaboration in the village to collect money for the trip.

They wanted to play well and win. His teacher, who was the team coach, gave them a lot of support and while he trained them, he used to say them: “If we lose, it does not matter because the importance of this sport is to do the things correctly”.

The teenagers felt happy for all the new things they were learning although they are afraid as they knew they would compete with stronger teams, which had a longer time of good preparation with all the equipment, shoes, uniforms, balls for training and more players.

They came to Bogotá and were so dazzled for how big and bright it was, they did not believe what they were seeing. Everyone was happy of knowing the excellent courts where they would play. They practiced all day before the match; they were just waiting for the moment to play...
