Philosophy of Education

Education is a very important aspect of our lives. I believe that education is a life long process that involves the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of each individual. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, one’s education should not be taken lightly. As a teacher, it is my goal to provide the best possible education for all my students.

Each child is a unique individual with different experiences, beliefs, and feelings. They will each come into my classroom with different thoughts, ideas, and views. It is my goal to provide them with the best education possible. Each student has a different learning style. I must take this into careful consideration because I want to provide a constructive learning opportunity for every student. I believe every student has the potential to learn.

I believe that I must foster a safe environment for my students, an environment not only safe from physical danger and learning distractions, but one in which it is safe for students to explore, discover, and make mistakes. I believe that mistakes are opportunities to learn, grow, and develop. It is my goal that each child will feel that they can try and fall short, yet get up and try again until they get it right, without ever feeling inferior or discouraged. There is a saying “If at first you don’t succeed try, try again.” I want this to be the class motto. When children leave my classroom I want them to have the determination and self-esteem they will need in the future.

I believe that learning should be fun and interesting, and at the same time meaningful and challenging. People, especially children, tend to tune out information that does not interest them. Because of this I try to make each learning activity as fascinating as I possibly can. I believe that it is important to teach children to love to learn.
