The Moral

The message that Shaun Tan is giving in “The Lost Thing” is very influential. This book is about an ordinarily boy going about his day-to-day life, when he comes across a weird lost thing. He helps this weird thing to find a home and a place to belong. I think this book is a lot about doing all you can do to help people and to never give up on them no matter who they are or what they look like. Never judge something or someone according to what they look like because you never know, they might turn out to be really fun and enjoyable to be around. You can be the one to make a difference even if it is affecting only one person in the whole world. Shaun Tan also talks about how sometimes we might feel said and upset and lost inside of us, but no matter how lost you may feel there is always away around things.

I have felt lost when I’ve had a fight with someone in my family because during the day you feel like everything is miserable and things aren’t the way they always seem, you feel empty inside of you.

How It Moves, Eats & Communicates

Hops round like a penguin,

Eats like a pig,

Looks like an Alien,

And wears a snake wig.

Flies like an eagle,

Runs like a rat,

Comes from Mars, would you believe that!

Griselda communicates by noises, depending on if she is happy or sad.

How It Got Lost

Griselda was playing soccer on her planet, Mars. She got a free kick. She kicked it so hard that it flew all the way to earth.
