Introduction:

What is magnetism? In this essay I will be explaining about the basics of magnetism, the magnetic field, the uses of magnetism and the problems it can cause.

Magnetism is a non-contact force and it contains the force of attraction or repulsion that acts at a distance. It is due to a magnetic field, which is caused by moving electrically charged particles or is too inherent in magnetic objects such as a magnet. . Magnetism is a property of the atoms in iron, nickel and cobalt. These little groups of atoms act just like tiny magnets and each of these little groups of atoms are called domains. The definition of magnetism

A magnet is an object that a strong magnetic field and will attract materials like iron to it. Magnets have two poles, called the north (N) and south (S) poles. Two magnets will be attracted by their opposite poles, and each will repel the like pole of the other magnet. You can make a magnet by stroking it in the same direction so that all the domains line up. You can also remove magnetism by either heating it or hammering it.

Magnetism has many uses in modern life. Some uses of magnetism could be used for a fridge magnet, an electric toothbrush or some loudspeakers. Etc. Magnetic materials are iron, nickel, alloy and cobalt etc. On the other hand strong magnets can cause disruption of the magnetic field of nearby equipments which come in the range of it's own magnetic field. Hence any appliances, which works on the principle of Magnetic Field or uses the principle of magnetic field, may get damage. So it’s better to keep all our gadgets away from strong magnets. Even the smallest things like our earphones may get damaged from these strong magnets.

An electromagnet is an object that acts like a magnet, but its magnetic force is created and controlled by electricity—thus the name electromagnet. By wrapping insulated wire around a piece of iron and then running electrical current through the wire, the iron becomes magnetized....
