Caroline Kennedy – an elitist or not?

Caroline Kennedy was born in 1957 into the elitist family known to the world as The Kennedy’s. With her father being John F. Kennedy, the nations 35th President, Caroline was thrust into greatness upon birth. There have been many families that have had a direct influence on the outcome of events over the course of American history. This paper will discuss the influence, power and prestige that Caroline Kennedy found her self in from the moment she took her first breath. This paper will also discuss how she has grown up through the years and the ways that she has continued to use her power to influence.

Caroline Kennedy started her first years as very few children do she grew up running around the Oval Office and riding her pony on the White House Lawn. The Kennedy’s were a picturesque family and had all aspects of family life monitored every second of the day. Caroline experienced tragedy at a young age when her father was assassinated when she was barely six years old. Life from that moment on changed but the strong family ties of the Kennedy elite continue to this day. Caroline’s mother, Jacqueline later married at the time the richest man in the World, Aristotle Onassis. The family moved to New York and Caroline’s foundation of influence broadened.

Caroline’s power is derived from both wealth and immediate access to policymakers. The Kennedy family remained in the political realm through her uncles U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy and U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy. With now being apart of the Onassis family too, the influence of corporate America established a foundation for Caroline to continue being a member of the American elite. Even though Caroline was born and raised with much influence, power and wealth she has chosen to live a relatively modest life.
