A. Defining Training Objectives:

1) Cowan training objective was to effectively train the employees on quality control for machine operators. At the end of training, Cowan was determined to get the level of product defects to be lower than the level before training. Within six months he wanted the products defects back to standard levels of 6 percent. In order to do this he decided to develop a training course. Defining a training objective is very important when developing a training course. The first objective that would have been appropriate to me would be the training reaction objective. This is a good objective because each trainee should know what to expect throughout training. It also allows the trainee to be more at ease and ready to participate. The next objective would be the organizational outcome objective. Simply because every company wants to know what difference the training will make and how it will impact the company productivity. Each trainee would understand what to expect throughout the training section, they will also be aware that after training the company is expect to meet the desired performance of 6 percent, and the criteria for training is to produce accuracy, quality, and speed when performing each job.

B. There were several organizational/environment constraints I found in this article. The first one was the fact Cowan only want the employees that had quality problems to attend the training. However, I would prefer that all employees attend the training because you can always learn something new or get better at performing the assign job. The second constraint was the fact that the training was base on lectures, discussion case studies, and occasional films. Most of the time on hand training is a better way to learn.
