Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg started the company with 20 employees. Today that number exceeds well over 2,000 employees. For most of its first five years, Facebook had the reputation of being a hot start up were lots of people wanted to work, while at the same time being a company that was not always able to attract and retain the industry’s top talent (www.businessinsider.com).

Facebook, is it possible to get a job there? Yes it is, but it will not be easy and there will be lots of competition. The Human Resource and Recruiting division of the company states that they take the mission of discovering top talent seriously. The goal is to identify the smartest and most passionate individual possible (www.facebook.com).

Face book’s hiring process has remained the same since 2008. In 2010 the company received over 250, 000 job applications, simply because the company is viewed as one of the best employers to work for (www.allfacebook.com). There are three steps to the hiring process: (1) Submit resume and application, with over 600 million members, it stands to reason that many users would click over to Facebook’s career site to find out how to become a part of the team. (2) Recruiters will phone –screen the applicants; and having an outstanding resume is good, but they will want to know more about the applicants leadership roles and Facebook is looking for builders, someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated and don’t need constant managing . (3) If the applicant passes the phone –screening the HR Recruiter will fly the applicant to Facebook headquarters for a series of interviews with the hiring manager and other members on the team. The interviews are designed to identify whether or not the applicant has the skills needed, but also to determine if they are the right fit for the company’s culture (blog.cybertegic.com).
