Executive Summary
This report will take a succinct look at a recent managerial challenge facing the trade
association management company, Sufka & Associates. It will outline how management was
able to address the challenge through the use of project, operational, and information systems
management. As a result Sufka & Associates were able to improve client service satisfaction
and improve operations.

Introduction
Sufka & Associates (S&A) is an association management firm that specializes in
managing the major business components of trade organizations. Some of the professional
services offered are: “strategic planning, website design, publications management, certification
programs, meeting and exhibit management, accounting services, and management
consultations” (Sufka & Associates, n.d.). As with most management companies S&A’s main
focus is to add value to the client by “cutting cost, promoting efficiency, sharing resources, and
providing access expertise” (ASAE, 2000). Some of its major long-termed clients consist of the
Associated Air Balance Council (AABC) and National Air Duct Cleaners Association
(NADCA).
There has been a recent discovery in the accounting records of NADCA. While
compiling the information needed to send out 1099 tax forms, one of the accounting
professionals realized there were some inaccuracies. Specifically, the staff member noticed that
the 1099 vendor list only listed two vendors requiring 1099 forms out of a total population of
approximately 250 vendors. If the speculation is indeed true it appears that S&A is not
providing its client with adequately managed services. Also the trade organization runs the risk
of being fined up to $1.5M (Internal Revenue Service, n.d.). Therefore, management must
