Some of the main reasons for youth drug use are peer pressure, loneliness, having trouble at home, just wanting to have a sense of belonging and wanting to fit in with others. A lot of youth think that in order for them to fit in or be cool they have to do drugs and whatever else everyone is doing. The youth feel as though drugs are a way to escape any problems and they also think that it is fun, not knowing the danger that it can cause. It has been proven that drug use and delinquency go hand in hand. Not only can drugs get addicting, but they can cause you to do some crazy things and commit a lot of crimes if you do not have the money to support the habit. Drug use can change people into criminals. Some people don’t think that they are able to commit crimes, but when they are on drugs they are like a totally different person. It also has been said that being a delinquent can cause you to do drugs. When they are delinquents then they will use drugs at a younger age and more frequently. At times youth can be on drugs and have no control over what they do. It depends on what drugs they use and how much they take. Drugs are very dangerous and we should try our hardest to keep the youth away from drugs and it could possibly keep them away from delinquency.
