Wise Judgment

A teenage girl is “in love” with her 17-year-old boyfriend. He is encouraging her to have sex with him saying that he will make sure they only have “protected” sex. This happens daily to young girls all over the world. It’s very sad that this happens but, using the five applied components of wise judgment we might be able to come up with a solution to this problem.

The first things we have to take into consideration is that there are four components of emotional intelligence: Emotional understanding, Emotional management, and Emotional facilitation of thought, Emotional perception and expression. (Emotional Intelligence P.W.I) first we have emotional understanding. The girl in this scenario most likely does not have a great amount of emotional understanding towards herself or the situation. This will make it extremely hard for her to decide what she wants and it will be easy to trick her or fool her. Emotional management is also very hard not just for a 17 year old teenager it’s hard for some adults as well. When our mind is clear and we have no worries at all emotional management can be easy to deal with but that is not the case for most of us. The girl in this scenario has a decision to make that can either save her relationship or break it. At this point the girl is experiencing extreme lust and not so much love but she does not know that. Her emotional management has not matured yet which makes her an easy target. Next we have emotional facilitation of thought which is developed inside the girls mind and it’s very hard for her to cope with the emotions she is experiencing. Teens always have a hard time coping with emotions because it’s simply a part in your brain that need’s time to mature.
