Step Outside Your World
Throughout my life I have never broken any bones in my body. Therefor I have never been on crutches. Outside of work and class I spend a lot of time at my church and visiting with church members of the church. So, I decided that I would go to church on Sunday on a pair of crutches for my step out your world analysis.
The emotions on the inside of me were up and down from the time I arrived at church until I left church. I observed people pointing because they did not know or had any idea what happened to me sense bible study on Wednesday. On top of that they had never seen me on crutches before. Also, some people were whispering to each other trying to find out what happened to me. It was like they had seen a ghost.
It was surprising to see how the people that I see every Wednesday and Sunday treat me and made room for me to be comfortable so that I would not be in anyone else way. The un expected part came when my pastor called me to the front so that he could pray for me. That was the most uncomfortable position I had ever been in in my life.
That experience changed my view a little about the people I observed because I go to a small church where most of the members are set in his or her own ways and for them to treat me in the manner that they did I know it took a lot for some of them to step out of their own world to help me and make sure that I was comfortable.
