Organized crime is something that is seen on a daily basis in our country and in other countries. There are two methods of operation that these organizations go by and the first one being a patron-client organization and the other is bureaucratic and they each have their own way of functioning. Both of these organizations share similarities and also have their differences as to how they function within the groups.

A patron- Client organization is an organization that not only has their own people working inside the group, but has taken it upon their self to make an exchange of information to help gain a connection with whatever politicians that are in office that can offer them information that can be used at their benefit. The way this organization is set up, is in comparison to a spider web for instance; you have the leader at the center of the web, and the next line down from the center of the web would be an assistant or the person right under the boss, then the next line after that would be the people who do the advising and help the assistant out. The second to the last set of people in this web would be the people that basically tell the workers what to do and we can call them captains, and the workers are at the bottom of the net. They follow all direction that comes from the main boss and take care of all the dirty work. With this organization, it is certain that all the people that are right under the main boss keep all of its information and procedures very tight and secure that way no one catches on to what’s going on and the rest of the group is kept on a need to know basis. The main reason for this type of organization is the fact that the people at the lower levels handle much of the work, and this makes it harder to find where the source of the information to the criminal organization is coming from. This leads anyone who is trying to investigate them away from the main person.
