“Mars has been nothing but bad news for earthlings”

The author expresses the lack of interest for Mars in the White House because there is no rush on the NASA’s program. This article talks about all the science fiction movies that have depicted Mars over the years. When you review the history of the 20th Century movies you will notice bad things always happened when the planet Mars was involved (Lovell).

“Opportunity prepares to land, Spirit recovers”

NASA launched two rovers hoping for at least one of them to land on Mars. The Spirit Rover landed on Mars and there were problems with the computer. The project manager successfully bypassed the software problems by putting the computer in “cripple mode”. NASA launched a second rover to land on Mars. The only time there were two working spacecraft on the surface of Mars was in 1976. This launch was a $820 million mission to determine if Mars ever was a wetter world capable of sustaining life (Opportunity).

“NASA optimistic about Mars probe”

NASA is doing all that they can to ensure a rover that they are launching this week will not end up like the other rovers. It appears that Mars is eating the spacecrafts. It is a graveyard for spacecrafts. The problems occur when the spacecrafts lands. It is taking a great deal of the tax payers dollars to find out about the hospitable of life on Mars (Bridges).

“Is there room for NASA in space?”

This article is talking about a book by Greg Klerkx, Lost in Space, that talks about NASA milking its Apollo success. Basically Klerkx is arguing that this agency has not fulfilled the promises of the Space Age (Jones).
