Page 1. Death Penalty

The death penalty serves as a deterrent for certain crimes. Even though it serves as a deterrent the crime rate is still comparatively high in the United States because the death penalty is only given to those for violent crimes. There are a lot of crimes that are not subject to the death penalty and therefore they would not deterrent these types of crimes. Even with the death penalty there are still some people that will not be affected by the idea of being catch and therefore it will not deterrent these individuals. Different countries’ have different responses to the death penalty. In some countries the use of the death penalty is used and works very well. However, there are some countries that use the death penalty though it does not seem to make any difference as to the crime rate at all. There are also some countries that do not support the death penalty. Though these countries in a whole may either approve or disapprove the death penalty it does not mean that everyone in them feel the same way.

My personal view on the death penalty is that it is should be legal. I however, believe that there should be strict restrictions as to who qualifies for the death penalty. The qualifications would be to help prevent innocent people from being sentenced to death. Basically I believe that anyone that has overwhelming and undeniable evidence against them should be considered for the death penalty for crimes that they commit that deserve the death penalty. I also believe that sex crimes should also be considered for the death penalty if the person is a repeat offender. I agree with the death penalty because of the risk these people hold to our society as a whole and because certain people even with help seem not able to control themselves and that is a risk that is not worth taking.
