Goals

As I get closer to finishing my MBA, I have spent quite a lot of time thinking what my next step in life will be. I have personal and career goals that I hope to accomplish. Currently, I have been running a small business that I started about three years ago. It is a ladies shoe boutique called Shoetique. Shoetique sells unique and trendy shoes for less than 50 dollars. One of my goals is to make it more profitable. The steps that need to be taken include setting up a interactive web page for the store. The main problem that I have is not being able to get to my target customers. A website will help me to reach more potential customers and also allow me to get constructive feedback from clients. Another goal for my business is figuring out a way to cut costs. I need to become more efficient when making weekly schedules for the store. There is no need to have two salespeople working the same shift when customer volume is expected to be low. Another career goal of mine is to expand the store. I would eventually like to add another location. However, much thought and research need to be done before making the final decision. I would need to find the perfect location and then check out what competition is nearby. I am happy that I choose a career that I love. I have so much freedom to exercise my creativity in my job. After all, what woman doesn’t love fashion and shoes. However, being a small business owner also had its disadvantages. When revenues are down, I am the one who is directly affected. If anything goes wrong at the store, I have to fix it. If an employee calls off, I have to go in. In general, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. That is why I continue doing it. My overall career goal is to continue building my business and creating more profits. I want to be a successful entrepreneur. As a result, I hope to one day open more Shoetiques and fill it with amazing shoes that will bring a smile to my customers....
