Introduction:

HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus which destructs the white blood cells of human being and cause acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). This AIDS is the final stage of HIV infection as a result of complete destruction of immune system. This AIDS is more common in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The number of people who get infected with HIV in this region has been increased from 87,000 in 2003 to 1, 52,000 in 2005 (Fahimi, F.R.n.d.). So, a program should be designed to prevent the spread of HIV infections.

Definition of the project:

This project focuses on eradication of HIV to the maximum level in the Middle East and North Africa. 1The major purpose of this program is to educate the people about the consequences of HIV, and also make the religious leaders to participate in this program. There are some complicated issues regarding the implementation of this program. They are: lack of prevention and lack of evaluation mechanism among the public. (Bertozzi, S. pg 331). Program for HIV prevention and treatment (PHPT) is implemented in Thailand to reduce the acute spreading of HIV.

Target country discussion:

The target country in this study is Middle East and North Africa. This region is rapidly being infected with HIV. Mostly the HIV transmission occurs through the sharing of contaminated needles from drug users. It is the main source of HIV transmission in Iran and Libya. The truck drivers and migrants are the main cause of HIV infections. MENA has higher migration rate. The people in North Africa are migrated towards Europe and the Egyptians are migrated to Gulf States. (Fahimi, F.R.n.d.). Stigma is the major barrier in preventing HIV infection.
