Clean Power Company

The Clean Power Company of Cincinnati, Ohio produces an energy regulating device that automatically regulates the use of power sources in homes and businesses. The company has been in business for five year, and has decided to move their operation to the southeastern part of the Dominican Republic which sits next to the Chavon River. Clean Power is faced with relocation in order to stay in business. The responsibilities of the stakeholders are to follow taking care of each other which falls under the ethical concept of moral rights (Kaplan, eGuide, Chapter 1, p.4). Clean Power may need the shareholder’s approval in order to move the business to the Dominican. The shareholders do not want promises of profits; they want to see the profits. Clean Power has an obligation to maintain profit levels and continue to be an economic asset to the community. Clean Power must prove to the shareholder’s that the move will be financially beneficial (Kaplan, eGuide, Chapter 2, p.3).

The 500 acres that Clean Power has purchased to develop their plant is undeveloped. Across the river from the Altos de Chavon complex are shops, restaurants, and other commercial attractions. The land is like a tropical paradise with palm trees and there is access to the sea via the Chavon River. The stakeholders are the environment, employees, customers, community, and shareholders.

Clean Power faces many ethical issues in moving its business operation to the Dominican Republic. Clean Power has an ethical obligation to tell the U.S. employees that the business is moving to the Dominican. There will be the U.S. employees who may be affected if they are asked to move and do not and the employees who are not asked to move to the Dominican.
