The HPDM is a tool that helps you manage your thinclients remotely. You can update images, agents, rename hosts, change IP addresses, etc. different things. Here are some of the things to do with it!

The HPDM is located in \\

The FTP server is also located in the same server. That will be your gateway.

1. Go to \\, log in and open the HP Device Manager Console.

a. Username: root

b. Password: is our IT password

2. To find your thinclients, go to the HPDM Gateway tab and click Discover:

a. You will have to choices. Discover Device, and Discover HPDM Gateway. You want to select Discover Device.

b. On the next screen leave it on Walking With IP Range and click next.

c. There are predefined scopes already. You can scan All computers in whatever location you set for this.

d. Select the Scope you want to scan and click ok. On the bottom of the screen you will see the task panel, and you can see the progress of your tasks.

e. Once the task completes, you can go the next tabs to see your computers. The HP ThinPro 3 are your Linux machines, and the HP WES/XPe are the Windows machines.

3. To update an Agent

a. Select the machine that you want to update the agent.

b. Right click the machine, and select Send Task

c. Under Category select Agent.

d. Under Template select: _Update Agent

e. Click Next and then you will have the Task Editor, where you can do multiple things, like schedule the task, add or remove more computers to the task, etc.

f. Under the content tab, make sure that the FTP Repository is set on “Use Default FTP”

g. Once you have selected your options, click OK and your task will either run right away, or will be scheduled to run.

4. To update an Image

a. Select the machine that you want to update the image.

b. Right click the machine, and select Send Task

c. Under Category select Imaging.

d. Under Template select: the clean image or a different one if you have one.
